About our Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned, before having its fixed form bourbon + sugar + bitter, was initially the very definition of the cocktail, that is "a stimulating liquor, composed of alcohol, sugar, water and bitter" (1806). When the word "cocktail" came to refer to all alcoholic mixtures, old gentlemen would have addressed their bartender by asking: "A cocktail in the old fashioned way, please". Thus was born this legendary cocktail. And that was long before Don Draper made it the emblem of Mad Men chic!
