About

Considered by some as a Manhattan in which a portion of Campari has been added and by others as a Negroni in which gin has been substituted for whiskey, the Boulevardier is nevertheless a beverage in its own right. Invented by Harry McElhone in 1927, the founder and owner of Harry's New York Bar in Paris, this cocktail owes its name to the American Erskine Gwynne, who created the literary magazine The Boulevardier the same year.
